Learn to identify and address risks involved in kinks and scenes in a group workshop for any skill level.

If you’ve attended a couple decent rope workshops, you’ll know that around 30% of the time and teaching effort is dedicated to safety. Where can you place rope on the body with lower injury risk? How do you keep your rope safe to use? What do you do if everything goes wrong?
That level of in-depth risk management is great to have in your toolbox for rope. But what about other kinks? Scenes that combine different activities? Playing in new places, with new people, or in different conditions?
In this workshop, we’ll dive into topics around risk management in kink:
  • Identifying risks in new kinks & planned scenes
  • Which risks matter?
  • Finding ways to lower/mitigate them
  • Making a plan for if things go wrong
  • Risk negotiation
  • Whose job is all of this, anyway?
You’ll come away with a better sense of what risks matter, and a toolbox of skills for keeping yourself and your partners safe(r) in your kink practices.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is open to people with any level of kink experience and interest. All that’s required is curiosity about identifying, evaluating, and managing risk in kink.

Additional notes

  • Dress code This is an educational gathering (and not a kink party). Wear whatever you’d wear on a normal day, there’s no special dress requirements.
  • Allergen warning The venue is a dog grooming salon by day, queer art & community space by night. Keep this in mind in case of allergies.
  • Venue accessibility The venue is wheelchair-accessible to enter, but the toilet might not be accessible to everyone. You can find details in the “accessibility” highlight on Instagram: @levishkas
  • This is a sober + vegan event As the venue is fully vegan, only vegan food and drinks are allowed inside. Tap water will be available, but you’re welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages and snacks as needed.
  • COVID & flu safety Please come tested, wear a mask if you know you’ve been exposed to COVID, and skip the event if you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms. Let's care for each other's health and be considerate towards those with compromised immune systems and disabilities (such as your facilitator).
  • Psychological safety Discussing kink can bring up different emotions. If there’s any workshop content that’s too much for you at the moment—for any reason—you’re welcome to quietly step out and rejoin the group later

They see huge value in community knowledge-sharing, and they have mentored friends learning safe(r) kink practices for years—which is what inspired them to host public workshops and social gatherings.
They’re half of Tied Together: the queer-owned, affirming, and inclusive counseling practice for individuals, couples, and larger relationship constellations.
